Routine: 2 hours when received between 7 a.m.-3 p.m.; Specimens received after 3 p.m. are held until the following morning. | |||
Collection Information: | No special patient preparation is required. Obtain specimen by standard collection procedures. | ||
Transport Information: | Deliver to lab immediately. All specimens must be signed into the laboratory. | ||
Reference Clients: | If unable to deliver to the lab within 1 hour, store and transport at 2-8° C. Do not centrifuge. Specimen must be received in the lab within 7 days. If longer storage is required, store and transport the specimen at -20° C for up to 30 days. | ||
Causes for Rejection: | Improperly labeled, incorrect container, contaminated, insufficient quantity, incorrect/delay in transport. | ||
